Remembering days past

Well, the last post has been up for quite some time, so here's a new one.

I've been feeling kind of nostalgic as of late, and found myself on the Bim Skala Bim, Steady Earnest, and Beat Soup web sites today. That was depressing, as they all seem to be "on hiatus". Damn!

Dickie, remember the night Harry and I drove up to Portland to visit, and we found Steady Earnest playing in a club across the way? What year was that? That was the night I drank my first (and last) Pabst Blue Ribbon. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't good ;)

Rachel put together a DVD with a bunch of photos, I'll try to make a copy for you in the coming weeks. I don't think there is any video on it, but there are some great photos.

Happy Saint Patty’s Day to you Harry,

Were ever you my rest,

We will all think of you from time to time,

And try to only dwell on your best,

Take care again old friend,

And if nothing all else I wish this,

I hope all is well for you,

Our friends,

And even all of the rest.

I saw Joe Jackson Saturday. Joe deviated from the typical set list he has been playing lately. Towards the end of the show he played 'blaze of glory', I song (and album) HB and I listened to a lot. I felt HB there, and I even got a whiff of that patouli smell he always had around his house and rover. Very weird and sad.

Today a computer disaster wiped out all my old emails from him. I couldn't bear to get rid of them, but windows took care of that for me. he would have said it served me right. I'm sorry old friend, I should have taken better care. . .

How is everyone? It has been some time since I checked this blog, but something got me thinking about him tonight and then I remembered that it was this weekend two years ago that we all got together for Harry's memorial service. I am so glad that you guys keep this going. It really helps to know we are all missing him together. I sure hope Harry realizes how loved he is, in whatever space he occupies now. My family will be in New England June 26th-July 12th. I hope we can all reconnect sometime during that time.

Hey friends,

Just thinking about our friend Harry and all of you.

I got turned on to Bruce Springsteen by Dug Cawley at his old apt. next to Hale Park in Nbpt. He'd crank it up in the old Caddie and we'd cruise around Nbpt, Harry always in the shotgun. I'm finally going to see him in concert in August with my wife. I think Harry would have liked this tour. Plus we saw some great shows at the old Pats stadium, Bowie and The Police were fantastic (1983?).
Hope you're all having a great summer. It would be nice to get together. Next year will be the 25 year anniversary of The Relentless Cookout of 1984 (of which I remember very little).

Be Good,

Brendan
