Boulder - Fall

Well Arapohoe Basin opened Friday. I tried to get the gumption to go in the morning before work, but I realized I hadn't ridden my board in 2 years and opening day at any mountain usually means pretty funky terrain.

Plus it's pretty hard to get motivated to get up in athe mornign after 6 straight days of work.

Savannah is looking a little better. She was definitely not happy wearing the "loser" cone. And of course Roswell showed abosolutely no mercy.

Sorry it's been so long. But actually looking at anything Mac rwlated lately has me wanting to scream. I remember when Apple was elegant and clever. Now I guess that all goes into iPods.

But I promised myself I wouldn't think about that stuff over the weekend.

So the grind goes on. The Fall here is a little less spectaular than what I'm used to in Vermont, but the ski slopes are open. :)

Ellen got me Roswell's papaer, so soon as I win the lottery, I'll take him to get his shots.

Should be some new notes in SWG soon, the NDA expired yesterday, so the expansion will ship on time on the 27th.

Later, The Noblest of Barnes calls.....

Savannah

Hi all,

Well, Savannah came home the other day with a small cut and a large amount of swelling, so it was off to the vet with me.

Well... One thing about Boulder, they have a lot of Vets, and for good reason... they make a lot of money. I think this visit wa stwice what I'd pay for a visit in Westford, and this was the less expensive option. They want to actually anethesize her and operate, but they are willing to let me try cleaning the wound and Anti-Biaotics.

We'll see. But poor Savannah has one of those cone shaped hoods she has to wear, and all I can say is she is NOT happy. ( and I know she knows she looks very un catlike, and isn't happy about it one bit. )

So if any of you have any spare Kharma, send it her way, because I really don't want her to hae to go through the whole procedure, mostly because I love her and I don't think she will deal with it well, and also because quite frankly, I can't afford $700+

Cheers,

hairball and conehead...

.... these are the times of... oh never mind.

Ok I got enough abuse for not finishing that last post, but there was a reason.
FOr the longest time I couldn't post at ll, and me and my Host were working it out. Ad we finally figured it out, and convinced them that I wasn't attempting to send SPAM all over the planet.

See I set up a responder to respond to accounts that I do not host anymore, and these responedrs more or less just said FATAL error Recipient not found and bounced it back to the sender.

Well, I guess a lot of senders do not accept replies, so they would bounce it back to me, and I would bounce it back to them and they would bounce it back to me, and I would bounce it back to them and they would bounce it back to me, I would bounce it back to them and they would bounce it back to me, I would bounce it back to them and they would bounce it back to me... Anyway you get the picture....

So they shut me down. ANd it has taken a bit of work to get them to agree to let me loose on the 'net again.

I had just finished fixing all of this the other day when I had to test it and run off to work. Ta Da.

So it's getting very cold here at night and snow is hitting the mountains. Loveland opens for skiing tomorrow. These people take their snow seriously, everywhere you look or listen to the radio, there's reports of the inch count at the elevations where it's falling, slowly the places creep down, closer to home.

Now, I wish I had been liquid enough to buy a ski pass before they stopped selling them at preseason rates. :(

So Boulder life contimues with no great news. I haven't really ben doing much since I have adpted to my new schedule. Essentially I work 6 days a week, 3 for B&N and 3 for Jeffco chool district. I work evenings til about midnight for B&N and then I work very early mornings for Jeffco. In between the 2 I have 1 day off that I usually sleep through. But I guess it's nice to be working, and I am luckt to have the 2 3 day sets as consecutive.

The Jeffco job is good solid mac work, but unfortunately they need a reality check. The cooks in charge seem to belive the masses have let new macs sit around waiting for the "proper" image to be delivered (my job) but when I get there, I usually find they are all set up and have been running for months now, and they are NOT ready for me to swing into town and just blow them away and install a locked down system set.

Barnes and Noble is latin for "Hurt Feet" Nuff said, even with new shoes I'm crippled by the end of 3 days (21 hrs.)

I haven't really found a good new hobby. Actually I'm not sure I have time for a good new hobby. Maybe stamp collecting....

Bolgging doesn't seem to be generating any great gems, although I can take up disk space pretty well.

Well I'm off to bed.

Time through the hour glass.......

Well, it's been a while. Just can't bring mysel to look at the screen after a few of the days I've been having.

And I'm still in some sort of "slug" mode from my trip home. I can't quite figure out if all I do is work, sleep and eat, why the heck am I so fatigued. I think my brain is playing tricks on me. Again I'm back to being tired in the day and wide awake at night.

Jobs are pretty much the same. Not really looking to the holiday season in retail, but alas, that's one of the gigs and wiothout both, I have no chance of keeping my head above water. My chin is pretty much under as it is.

Finally got to see 3 movies I've been meaning to see. Farenheit 9/11, Big Fish and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. I liked them all, and it made me rethink my logic of not having a TV. Watching movies on a laptop screen is kind of the pits, and the DVD reader in my desktop mac stopped working way back when I tried to put a CD-R in the machine.

And there's not really any place to really sit and casually watch a movie in my apartment. Essentially I have an Office chair and I have a woodenchair, and then the computer rack. ANd me being me I constantly get distracted by the computer when I should be just watching the movie. Luckinly I can read on the back porch. It's tight but not too bad. And it keeps me away from the computer.

I thought Farenheit 9/11 was great, but I have said for a long time that Moore relies on the viewer to make conclusions as he presents data, and I'm just not so sure a lot of people are with the times enough to draw the conclusions from F9/11. In Bowling for COlumbine, we all had a sort of Media Blasted set of images and facts to draw from, so it was easy to come to conclusions with the information presented, but in F9/11, it's a little more complex, and frankly I think there are a few loose ends.

(to be continued.... Have to run to work)
